Austrian Empire style miniature escritoire with musical movement. Case of sterling silver, case maker punch mark "K" in a star, fire gilt, engine-turned and with translucent cobalt blue enamel, rectangular body with bevelled corners, four fluted and tapered feet with diagonal supports carrying a vase with flowers. Intermediate panel with three drawers; two hinged doors; walls decorated with octagonal enamel cartouches and central onlayed floral gold ornamentation. Circular floral ornamental strips, corners with moulded ornamental pillars with floral decoration. Interior doors with mirrors, three inner cherry wood drawers with silk lining and ornamental mountings, upper drawer with garnet and lapis lazuli cabochon to activate the musical movement, florally pierced cover plate. Musical movement: pinned cylinder, vibrating blades, and barrel. The movement is covered with a removable lattice with openwork floral ornament. A fixed winding key is on the drum top.
