On the lid inner side the engraved image of a swan with a chain on the neck and a scroll with inscription: "A Token of Respect from Charles Whitton to G. C. Swan Esq.", trade mark with letters "GCR" in horizontal lozenge, stylised letter "M" in square. Geneve gold assays of 1809-1819 on the welt.
Music snuffbox in rectangular gold case with rounded vertical ribs and a hinged lid. rectangular fields with a guilloche pattern of concentric circles, surrounded with a narrow blue frame and a border with engraving combined with blue transparent enamel floral ornament are on the top and bottom surfaces of the case. A medallion with images of flowers, musical instruments and sheet music is on the top side center. An ornament of flowers and leaves with curls is on the lid welt. The inner surface of the snuffbox is smooth, polished, with master's marks in a horizontal rhombus. An artistically decorated engraved gift inscription is on the lid inner side. The lateral surfaces of the case are decorated with guilloche panels in narrow chased frames. The rounded corners are engraved with blue enamel vases and garlands of leaves. A keyhole with a latch that is opened by a lever is in the left corner of the case. With suspended sur-plateau movement of twenty-two blued teeth, split evenly top and bottom in finely tooled case. The winding key is made of yellow metal with a conical rod and a volumetric shaped grip.
