Gilded metal box in the form of a casket, enamel flower pattern on a blue background, surrounded by chased vignette on black background is on the top side. An oval lid with a painted image of a mountain landscape with a lake, houses, church and shepherdesses in the foreground is on the top side. The lid inner side is mirror polished. The lateral surfaces are decorated with a regular chased ornament along the perimeter. A sliding lever for switching the movement on is on the front side. The bottom surface is smooth and polished, with a fine chased pattern in the form of a double frame of straight lines with curly line between them and shamrocks in the corners. A keyhole and mounting screws' heads are inside the frame. The oval lid opens automatically during the operation of the movement and a tiny bird in painted feathers appears. It spins, flaps its wings and tail, turns the head, opens and closes the beak; the sound movement imitates bird's chirping. When the movement stops the bird hides and the lid descends.
