Inscriptions on the clock case: a stamp in the form of a pine branch with a cone and the inscriptions “Lenzkirch”, “AG”, “2”, “1 Million”, “82425”; on the bar of the musical mechanism: “281850”; on the disc: “SCHUTZ-MARKE”, “TRADE-MARK”, “MADE IN GERMANY”, “Marque de Fabrique”, “SYMPHONION”, “Break the News to Mother”, “Ch.K. Harris”, “95062”.
Clock in a wooden case veneered with walnut, on a base with carved ornament and a profiled plinth resting on four supports. Atop is the clock movement housing, featuring turned columns, a mascaron, and a dome surmounted by a torch and two finials on the sides. The front features an opening hinged door with a lock, a glazed circular window with a rim, and carved ornaments in the corners.
The musical mechanism plays a melody encoded on ametal disc 48.5 cm in diameter; the mechanism stops automatically. The case serves as a resonator. The set includes a disc with the melody of the military song “Break the News to Mother” by the American composer Charles Kassel Harris (01.05.1867-22.12.1930), a crank, and a key.
