Clock in a wooden case veneered with walnut burl, on a shaped profiled base with marquetry ornament in the form of a pot with a flowering plant framed by small squares of dark and light wood, on lion paw feet on the front. Shaped pediment with carved relief ornament, panels of openwork grilles lined with light brown fabric on the inner side. Set on the tiered top are gilded figures of heralds with trumpets and Atlas with a celestial sphere, standing on globes atop vertical pillars with openwork grilles.
Clock mechanism with a pendulum, eight-day movement, anchor escapement, half-hour strike on a bell, calendar, and indicators for month, date, day of the week, and moon phases. The musical mechanism—a carillon of sixteen bells with hammers and a pinned cylinder for eight melodies—activates every hour. The playing of a melody is accompanied by the activation of an automaton: sailing ships rocking on the waves. The clock mechanism and musical mechanism are driven by three weights. The set includes a key and a crank for winding the weights.
