The open mechanism of the phonograph is mounted on a rectangular, nickel-plated metal bedplate secured to wooden base with profiled plinth and low corner feet. This combination apparatus is designed to reproduce audio recordings made either on phonograph cylinders of one of two sizes, or on a gramophone record.
