The automaton, fashioned as a figure depicting the English comic actor Harry Relph, known by his stage name Little Tich, is mounted on a rectangular base raised on spherical feet. When the mechanism is switched on, the automaton comes to life: the figure of Little Tich leans very low forward, his right hand holding a top hat moves to the side, and his head turns following his hand. Then, the figure stands upright, his exceptionally long boots tap-dance, and his eyelids alternately wink in time with the rhythm. The figure then turns to the side, and the actions repeat. The performance is accompanied by musical sounds.
