The automaton, fashioned as a rooster in vibrant plumage made of natural feathers, features an open beak, glass eyes, and a tail, and stands on brass legs. When the mechanism is wound and switched on, the rooster walks by moving its legs and juts its neck and head forward and backward; after taking a few steps, it stops, scratches with its right claw, and crows, then continues moving while nodding its head.
