The automaton in the form of a smiling musician figure with a flute is mounted on a low profiled base covered in red velvet.
The cam control mechanism and musical movement with a pinned cylinder, steel comb, and spring drive are housed within the torso, featuring a winding key and a pull-out on/off button on the right side of the figure.
When the mechanism is wound and activated, a melody plays: the musician moves his eyes left and right, lowers his head, and raises his wooden flute to his lips, simulating playing the flute, while his eyebrows and lower lip move. All actions are repeated to musical accompaniment.
