The sculpture depicts a woman seemingly emerging from an open poppy flower. Large red petals surround the shoulders and are repeated in the headdress, while the base develops into green leaves and a stem. Gilt bronze is combined with bright colored enamel, emphasizing the relief and richness of the colors. Created around 1900, the work reflects the Art Nouveau tendency to unite the human figure with natural forms in a single composition.
