A sculptural representation of a young, mustachioed mounted Cossack wearing sharovary trousers, a tunic (gimnasterka), a kubanka-papakha hat, and tall boots, with a rifle slung across his shoulders. Leaning down from his saddle, the warrior embraces a young Cossack woman. She is dressed in a traditional two-piece suit (parochka) with ruffles along the collar and hem, and wears her hair in a long braid with a kokoshnik headdress. She stands on tiptoe on a small tree stump to kiss her betrothed. Forage – a feed bag with oats – is strapped to the horse's saddle. The group is mounted on an oval base with a smooth plinth and textured terrain.
