Specific patriotic mood of the Russian society life in the second half of the 19th – early 20th contributed to the emergence of a large number of monuments that were created in honor of individual personalities as well in commemoration of the historical events. The main details and parts of the erected monument are reproduced in this exhibit, including its pedestal (originally from granite).

L.V. Sherwood designed the monument to the outstanding Russian naval commander and scientist. Four meters high bronze figure of Admiral Makarov is standing on granite pedestal. This pedestal is a piece of granite rock that was raised from the sea bottom harbor of "Standard" in the Vyborg Bay.
