    On the lid inner side and bottom, there are 4 marks: a Swiss gold standard mark in the form of a flower, presumably a maker's mark in the form of a monogram (poorly legible), and two other unknown, poorly legible marks. There is also the maker's mark "FT" in a shield, an "Alaterre" rosette mark, a shield hallmark with a chevron, and a crowned lion rampant

    The snuffbox features a rectangular gold case with rounded corners and a hinged lid. The lid is decorated with an enamel miniature depicting the famous Roman story of Cornelia, mother of Tiberius and Gaius Gracchus. Three figures in antique attire are presented within a frame of dark blue enamel and gold vegetal ornament against a matte background. The sides and base are decorated with a frieze featuring raised representations of acanthus leaves and floral garlands in gold and blue enamel against a matte background.
