The miniature is enclosed in a slender chased golden frame and dark blue enamel border. Along the edge, the lid is adorned with rose-cut diamonds in silver setting. The side panels and base are decorated with guilloché panels covered with translucent dark blue enamel and featuring a black-and-gold foliage pattern of winding stems and leaves over light blue enamel background.
