An oval snuffbox with a hinged lid with a thumb piece. The body made of lapis lazuli is enclosed in gold frame with pierced floral and geometric ornament. A mirror mounted into the inner surface of the lid is inside the box, and an oval plaque with a relief image of a landscape with ruins and staffage figures.
The snuffbox is enclosed in an oval case made of green leather, with a hinged lid and a clasp.
The inner surface of the lid and the bottom are lined with red velvet.
