Gold rectangular snuffbox with rounded corners, with hinged lid, gold thumb ramp in the form of relief floral ornament. Gold square plaque with the engraved image of a lion’s head looking to the left is on the lid. The case is covered with wavy guilloche ornament. The dedicatory inscription is engraved on the lid inner side: "Captain Meredith Brown, late Paymaster OF THE 23rd OR R.W. FUSILIERS from his brother Officers as a Testimonial of THEIR AFFECTION AND ESTEEM for his public conduct and private worth".
