Steel seal with cylindrical handle and oval shaped base. Composite (marriage) coat of arms is cut on the matrix. The so-called marriage coat of arms depicts the heraldic image of a pair of lions that are supporting two armorial shields. One shield belongs to the Tutolmin noble family, registered in the first volume of "The General Armorial of the Russian Empire Noble Families" (GA, Volume I, p. 62). The other - belongs to Counts Panin, who are registered in the first volume of "The General Armorial" (GA, Volume I , p. 25) as well. The crowns over each shield correspond to the families' titles. Most likely, this coat of arms was created on the occasion of the marriage of Count Pyotr Ivanovich Panin only daughter Sofia Petrovna Panina (1772-1833) and the actual privy councillor, State Council member - Ivan Tutolmin (1760-1839), who is sprung from an ancient noble family. They married in 1794. In those times women used the so-called "Maryazh" (from Fr. "mariage") coats of arms after the marriage. The husband's coat of arms was placed to the left of the viewer, his father's coat of arms - to the right. Such "compositions" were used by the ladies from noble families only. This fact allows to attribute the described seal as Sofia Petrovna Tutolmina personal seal.
