A vessel of rounded silhouette set on three cylindrical feet and surmounted by a lid. The body of the piece is decorated with an expressive, raised ornament in the form of blooming papyrus umbels and a large scarab beetle with outstretched wings. The upper part of the body and the lid are covered with a thick turquoise-blue and white glaze, which forms large, picturesque drips in the lower third, imitating sea foam or flowing water.
