Remembering the talented journalist and TV host Boris Notkin

November 11, is the memorial day of remarkable Soviet and Russian journalist and television host Boris Notkin.

Boris Isaevich began working in television in 1990, becoming the presenter of the Moscow TV channel (MTV) show “Facing The City”.
In 1994, Boris Notkin created his own show, “Boris Notkin Invites”, for which he was nominated for a TEFI award in 1995-1996. In 1997, the talented presenter was invited to join the new TV Centre channel, where he became part of the management team and began hosting his own programme. Initially, it was called “The Gallery of Boris Notkin”, but in 1999, it was renamed “Perspectives”. A year later, the presenter restored the name of his programme on the MTV channel, and the popular show “Boris Notkin Invites” returned to the airwaves. A wide variety of people willingly came to Notkin's show – ministers and politicians, actors and singers.

The host's intelligence and composure created a special atmosphere in the studio. Everyone knows that the success of a programme or interview largely depends on the host. In his questions to his interlocutor, the journalist anticipates what readers, radio listeners and television viewers would like to ask. The programme is structured as a dialogue between the host and the guest. The well-known host's guests were popular actors, politicians, musicians, athletes, and statesmen, from Tatiana Navka and Nadezhda Babkina to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and writer Vasily Aksyonov. During the conversation, the interviewee's personality, family, career, position in society and social issues were discussed.

An interview portrait is a special type of television interview aimed at revealing the interviewee's personality in a comprehensive manner. The main focus is on socio-psychological and emotional characteristics and identifying the interviewee's value system.

Today we can watch our favourite programmes by Boris Notkin.
