The museum website is regularly updated with new exhibits. Today we present you the updates in the website section "Amusing Automata".
The museum collection of amusing automata is unique, it is the only one of its kind in Russia, and it is recognised by experts as one of the most complete in the world. The museum exposition features all kinds and forms of mechanical toys of XVIII–XX centuries.
You will know much more about the collection of automata stored in the museum Collection by watching our video guide "Amusing automata dolls" , posted in the museum Video Archive.
While listening to the the audio story "Parisian Automata of the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries as seen by the contemporaries", you will get an answer to many questions that arise when you get to know these outlandish exhibits created in Paris in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the workshop of Aléxandre Théroude, Jean Marie Phalibois and Blaise Bontems companies, by Roullet & Decamps firm. These great wizards of the past centuries created technical and artistic masterpieces, amazing objects with meticulous details, which are dressed in sumptuous costumes and are able to perform dizzyingly complicated movements. Many of the similar unique automata are presented on the museum Collection website in the section “AMUSING AUTOMATA”.
