The image of the god Chronos was first described in the 8th century B.C., and was refined by sculptors, painters and watchmakers from various countries in subsequent eras.

The achievements of Greco-Roman culture gradually faded form the memory of Christian ancients and artists and they began to identify Chronos, the god of time, with another mythological character - Kronos or Kronos, thanks to the consonance of their names.
