Exhibits from the museum Collection at the exhibition in the Troponin Museum
The exhibition "Graphics of the first half of the 19th century from private collections" is open the Tropinin and Moscow artists of his time museum. Exhibition dates from February 5 to April 13, 2022.
Graphic works make up a significant part of the Tropinin Museum collection - more than 400 sheets of graphics, watercolors, pastels, engravings and lithographs created by masters of the second half of the 18th - early 20th centuries are stored in the Museum. These are the works of famous artists - Vasily Tropinin, Pyotr Sokolov, Alexander Bryullov, Karl Hampeln, Woldemar Hau and others. Several items by Orest Kiprensky, Karl Bryullov, Aleksander Orłowski, Taras Shevchenko and Jean Ingres from private collections are exhibited for the first time or after a long break. During the Pushkin era graphic works were more accessible to the majority of noble and merchant families than paintings. Some drawings are more archaic, others are made in line with the major styles of the era. In addition, portraits capture the fashion according to which the hero dressed, combed his hair, and kept himself.
The graphic works of the first half of the 19th century presented at the exhibition are from private collections that belong to Moscow and St. Petersburg collectors, members of the Graphics Collectors Club. Three graphic works by Aleksander Orłowski from the collection section “Graphics” are provided by the museum Collection:
