Golden pocket watch key is in the form of flat oval case, containing miniature musical movement. The case profiled polished shell serves as the hull of the mechanism. Lateral sides are covered with thin plaques with polychrome enamel images in ornately shaped vignettes. Landscape with water pond in the foreground, houses on the shore, a bridge, and mountains in the distance is depicted on one side in elongated thin chased frame. The landscape is surrounded by flowers on stems with leaves, made in the technique of colored champlevé enamel. Chased vase with flowers and hanging branches is above. The decor is surrounded by repoussed field.
The plaque on the other side is decorated with bouquet of red flowers in vertical oval frame. The frame is surrounded by embossed images of bowls with flowers, entwined with snakes, and branches. The chasing is complemented with blue and white enamel. The plaques’ perimeters are decorated with chased arched frames with dark blue enamel. The brackets in the form of polished balls, supported on both sides by chased snakes are fixed the shell wide sides. Musical movement winding rod passes through the upper ball. The rod with thin double ring that serves as a crown. The suspension swivel is attached to the ring. The bottom ball serves as a holder for the steel rod of the key with square cross-section channel. Flat slider on the shell wide side activates the mechanism. The basis of the "sur plateau" type mechanism is pinned disk, two sets of six tuned steel slats and a spring motor.
