Singing bird box in sterling silver gilded oval box on four foliate legs. The lid decorated with three elegant dressed women in a formal garden scene. The box is decorated with cherubs and foliage. When the rod is extended, the oval lid with a man's portrait opens, a miniature bird in painted feathers appears. It turns in place, flaps its wings, opens and closes the beak; the sound mechanism simulates bird chirping. At the end of the program, the bird hides under the openwork gilded lattice and the lid closes.
