The cardboard book-music features perforation of fifty-two tracks of round holes – the encoded record of a sequence of control actions for a musical instrument to reproduce a melody.
In 1897 the celebrated composer Julius Fucik (1872–1916) became bandmaster of the 86th Infantry Regiment in Sarajevo. "Die Regimentskinder" (The Regiment’s Children), Op. 169, is a march written in 1905. Regimental children were musically talented boys who were admitted in regimental bands and trained as musicians from the age of 15 without active military service, which began only at 17.
