The automaton mechanism is mounted within a rectangular wooden base with rounded vertical edges, covered in burgundy velvet. During the operation of the mechanism, the girl's head periodically rises and falls, while her hands holding the box simultaneously lift and lower. In each new cycle, various objects sequentially appear on the table beneath the box: a playing die, a metal rosette, and golden and orange balls. In one of the cycles, the space under the box remains empty. The automaton's actions are accompanied by the sounds of a musical movement with a pinned cylinder and a comb.
