    Orchestrion is housed in wooden case veneered with mahogany of dark cherry color, featuring black base and top panel, with four carrying handles on the sides. Backlight lamp is fitted on the inner side of the top panel lid. Front side is divided into two sections by wide horizontal bar with carved inscriptions: “Le Papillon /Marque of Modéle Déposés / Maillard à Auxon-Dessus-Doubs”.

    Lower section, behind which pinned barrel for ten melodies and drive mechanism are installed, is enclosed by removable panel featuring shaped lock cover and three light-colored inserts within carved frames. Central insert features cast metal overlay in the form of vase with flowers, scrolls, and volutes.
    Ten dance melodies are coded on the pinned barrel.
