"Golden wedding" depicts an elderly couple in elegant walking attire: the woman is wrapped in a long dress and cape, while the man wears a top hat and carries an umbrella. The paired motif gives the composition both a narrative and commemorative character. Colored patination of the bronze and ivory details enrich the surface and connect the work with decorative sculpture of the first half of the 20th century. The work bears the signature of André Vincent Becquerel and the mark of the Paris firm Etling, one of the well-known producers of Art Deco sculpture.
