The two-figure composition is located on a stepped, rectangular pedestal made of green onyx and marble, depicting characters of the Italian commedia dell'arte — Pierrot and Columbine in traditional theatrical costumes. Pierrot is sitting, gently embracing his beloved lying at his feet, who is leaning back with her head on his knees. His gaze is directed at Columbine, while she looks from below straight into his eyes. The character is dressed in a silvery costume with a pleated ruff collar. His companion is presented in a form-fitting, dark outfit decorated with a relief gilded floral ornament in the form of leaves. The heads of both heroes are crowned with dark bonnets (skullcaps). The sculptural figures are executed in patinated and gilded bronze, while the faces and hands are made of ivory.
