The sculpture depicts a dancer in a form-fitting jumpsuit with relief scaled ornament, a narrow belt with pendants, and a cloche hat on her head. The girl is captured in the moment of performance: she has lowered one knee onto the pedestal, while her other leg is bent and stands on the toe. One hand of the performer is raised above her head, holding an open fan, and the second is lowered to her knee with an identical fan. The sculptural figure is executed in patinated bronze with gilding, silvering, and copper elements. The head and hands are executed in ivory. The figure is mounted on a rectangular pedestal made of brown marble with inserts of deep red onyx.
