An interior scene is depicted on a rectangular, vertically oriented sheet with rounded corners. It shows Lieutenant General Vladimir Sergeyevich Obolensky (1847–1891), a Court Marshal, leaning over a table that is being set by palace attendants in liveries. In the upper center of the sheet, the series title is written in black ink: “FÊTE À LA COUR” (translated from French as: Court Celebrations). In the lower-left section, there is an inscription in Russian: “Тревога. // ‘Скоро ли наконецъ обљдъ?’ ” (translated as: Anxiety. // “Will dinner be served soon at last?”).
The author's signature and date are located in the lower-right corner in graphite pencil: Zichy 89.
