Gold snuffbox in the form of a rectangular cuboid with chamfered vertical edges and a hinged top lid. The overarching decorative motif of the snuffbox consists of wavy engine-turned (guilloché) panels beneath translucent blue enamel, set within slender chased frames featuring a gold ornament of bundled sprigs entwined with beadwork. The panels are bordered by narrow frames of white enamel. The top of the lid features a painted enamel scene of a stag hunt applied over the translucent enamel. The image is enclosed in an ornamental frame executed in fine enamel (finift) with twisted gold wire. Sections of the frame alternate with oval inserts of pale blue enamel. The blue panel on the bottom of the snuffbox is bordered by an opaque white enamel frame decorated with a chain of delicate black semicircles and tiny crosses. The bottom panel slides out to the right, revealing an interior divided by partitions into four compartments. Each compartment contains an oval metal counter (plaquette) with a chased golden rim. The obverse of each counter displays a human figure wearing a crown on a white enamel background. Each counter is marked with one of the playing card suit symbols. The reverses feature handwritten French inscriptions in black enamel on a white background, enclosed within an oval chain of black dots: “Je porte Bonheur (I bring good luck), Je suis Fortuné (I am fortunate), J’aporte l’esperance (I bring hope), Je gagne toujour (I always win).” The lid inner side bears engraved inscription in French: “Souvenir du 2, Juillet, La fête de Lili, Le roman de Lili. La victoire d’Adolar (In memory of July 2nd; Lili's party; Lili's romance; Adolar's victory)”. The interior surfaces of the snuffbox are mirror-polished. The maker's, assayers', and other hallmarks are struck on the interior surface of the lid.
