The lid, base and sides are decorated with enamel miniatures based on the paintings of Jean-Honore Fragonard, depicting scenes of everyday life, bordered by enamel frame with a garland of white pearls, red flowers and green leaves on a matt gold background. The miniatures are based on the plots of the original paintings by J. Fragonard. They were engraved and printed by Nicolas de Launay. The printed titles were Les Beignets (the cover), Le Petit Prédicateur (the base), Interieur Rustique (the front panel), l'Education est Tout (the back panel), L'Heureuse Fecondité (front panel).
