Gold rectangular snuffbox with bevelled corners and a hinged lid. Octagonal plaque depicting the plot of ancient Roman legend "The Magnanimity of Scipio" based on the painting by Nicolas Poussin (1640) is on the lid. A thin golden chased border and a frame of pearls on dark blue enamel background surround the miniature. The case is decorated with guilloche panels covered with translucent dark blue enamel in white frame, floral ornamentation and white enamel decorative columns in the corners.
