English Victorian rectangular gold snuffbox, with rounded corners, with the top, side and bottom profusely chased and engraved. Decorated with large trailing foliage scrolls the top centre engraved with a cartouche coat of arms depicting the arms of Gilman as borne by the Gilman family of Clonteadmore, co. Cork, probably for Herbert Gillman of Clonteadmore (1791-1878), the side front with a protruding shaped thumb ramp.
