Sculptural depiction of Gustavus II Adolphus (1594–1632), King of Sweden, on a rearing horse. Holding the reins with his left hand, his head is turned to the side; in his highly raised right hand, he grips a staff. He is depicted in historical military uniform (buff coat, breeches, and riding boots), with a feathered hat suspended from his waist. The composition is mounted on a tall, rectangular molded base with semi-circular end walls, featuring a raised textured ground, on four supports in the form of harpies. The sides of the base are decorated with high-relief multi-figure compositions of court life. The short sides' walls are adorned with the figure of a putto bearing a shield with the royal coat of arms, and male figures.
