“Cameo inlay” (also called “sulfides”, “crystal‑ceramics”) refers to the technique of "fusing" white paste into the glass or crystal mass; invented in Bohemia in the mid‑18th century. White reliefs were made from various materials – biscuit, alabaster, ceramic paste, plaster, milk glass. Glass items with cameo inlay appeared in Russia no earlier than the 1820s. They were produced in small series or as single pieces created for special occasions – commemorative dates, historical events, as gifts and souvenirs.
