Porcelain rounded tureen is on ring-shaped base, with two handles in the form of branches, with detachable lid with grip. The body and detachable lid are adorned with the star of Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called with swords, Cyrillic inscription "For Faith and Loyalty" and monogram "MN" beneath the Grand ducal crown. The base, smooth tureen welt edge, the lid wavy edge and handles are emphasized by gold stripe.
The monogram "M" and "N" belongs to Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich (1832-1909) - the youngest son of Emperor Nicholas I and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, commander-in-chief and statesman, the Caucasus governor (1862-1881), chairman (since 1881, and since 1905 honorary chairman) of the State Council (until 1909).
